The Ukraine Defense Contact Group will meet for a week starting today to discuss giving additional aerial supplies to Ukraine.
The UDCG group is a NATO-led coalition of 54 countries that has met monthly since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict to organize and provide military support to Ukraine. The group is also often referred to as the Ramstein group because its meetings are often held there. The key issue and priority of the group is air defense, while secondary focuses are artillery, ammunition, and armored vehicles. During the previous meeting, NATO allies started training the Ukrainian Forces on F-16 airships, while the September conference will focus on further supply of weaponry.
Several national legislations, like the UK Parliament and the US Congress, resume their sessions in early September. Therefore, this meeting will bring to light any differences in the members’ share of military aid. In this regard, former Ukrainian Defense Minister Reznikov claimed that Western aid is not decreasing, and Ukraine’s allies have delivered on their promises so far. The allies’ effort to, not only donate ammunition and vehicles to Ukraine but to also train Ukrainian soldiers is an indication that such support will likely continue for the foreseeable future.
