Saudi Arabia’s Asbar World Forum begins today
The 2020 session of the Asbar World Forum (AWF) will begin today in Riyadh and conclude Wednesday.
The AWF will feature 54 speakers representing prominent business organisations and government departments. Among them is Bandar Alkhorayef, the Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, and Abdallah Al-Mouallimi, the kingdom’s permanent ambassador to the UN.
The forum will focus on technological development, creating a roadmap to 2050, and studying the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the future of Saudi Arabia and the rest of the world. The forum’s 14 sessions are centred around a different theme, ranging from future technologies to epidemic prevention. Key technologies to be discussed include blockchain, organisational uses of AI, and artificial brains for use in machine learning.
Expect the AWF to build on the sessions from last year concerning the future of industry and business while placing special emphasis on technology and the digital world. Organisers hope that the aforementioned technologies will aid Saudi Arabia’s economic recovery. Though they are still in development, the new technologies have the potential to revolutionise the oil industry, aiding Saudi economic growth in the long term.
