Black Hat 2019 hacker conference wraps up in Las Vegas
The two-day Black Hat Hacker conference will conclude today in Las Vegas.
The conference is one of the most advanced technical and security information events in the world, involving briefings and training for various forms of emerging security threats.
Data and information have become increasingly potent weapons in targeting rival states’ governments and populations. Government-backed intelligence agencies across the world are actively using offensive hacking mechanisms to gain access to strategic defence information and research. Hackers have targeted governments, universities and critical infrastructure companies in aerospace, media and telecom, and energy and finance.
A recent study found that at least 20 countries have been subject to foreign interference in electoral processes by cyber means. The majority of these instances have been attributed to either Russia or China.
