Early voting for Nevada’s democratic caucus will begin today ahead of the main event February 22nd.

The Nevada caucus is expected to highlight candidates’ appeal to minority voters – nearly a third of registered Democrats are Latino, a demographic Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has performed well with.

Although he has performed poorly thus far, polls suggest former Vice President Joe Biden is favored to take victory with Senator Sanders in second place.  However, union bosses have mobilized against him in support of Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who is riding a boost from a close second place finish in Iowa and New Hampshire.

This early election will give Nevada Democrats ample time to cast their votes before the caucus on the 22nd in case they are unable to personally attend the event.  This is the first time early voting has been allowed in a state caucus and is expected to increase voter participation.
