Deadline for developers to submit bids for commercial space at Bang Sue Grand Station
Today is the last day for developers to submit bids for commercial spaces in the Bang Sue Grand Station in Bangkok, Thailand.
Bang Sue is set to become Thailand’s rail hub and will be the largest railway station in Southeast Asia. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is expected to look to commercial spaces in the station as a key source of revenue and is seeking to add retail shops and businesses that offer services including food and beverages. Thailand recently turned its attention toward modernizing its rail transit system to increase passenger capacities and decrease air pollution, committing more than $21 billion to upgrades last year.
Expect Bang Sue Grand Station to be a key piece in modernizing Thailand’s rail network and generating revenue for SRT. Bang Sue’s status as the largest station in Southeast Asia will also help Thailand build connections with the regional transportation network and increase economic growth. Additionally, Thailand is likely to continue increasing cooperation between its public and private sectors with similar projects. Public-private development projects are taking a larger share of Thailand’s infrastructure activity, and collaboration between the sectors will become increasingly frequent, especially in the space of sustainable development infrastructure.
