Indian parliamentary delegations to brief Security Council members on Operation Sindoor

Today, seven all-party delegations commence state visits to over 32 countries to present India’s condemnation of alleged Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
Earlier this month, India launched Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir. Following the retaliatory missile strikes against Pakistan, the international community called for India to show restraint against Pakistan. In a show of national consensus on zero tolerance against terrorism, the all-party delegation will reinforce India’s right to self-defense. The delegations consist of over 59 members of the Indian Parliament and represent various parties, including the BJP, INC, and Shiv Sena, among others. Over the ten-day outreach, the parliamentary delegations will visit members of the UN Security Council and other influential countries, including Russia, Saudi Arabia, the UK, and the US.
Considering how ongoing meetings with partners like Japan have successfully swayed sentiment in India’s favor, these state visits may likely further consolidate international support for India. On the other hand, considering Pakistan is part of the UN Security Council, Islamabad will likely plead its case against Indian aggression to its fellow council members. Although a bilateral truce holds, India and Pakistan continue to accuse each other of violating the ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir and appeal to external mediators. As India now takes the initiative in global outreach, both New Delhi and Pakistan will likely engage in a diplomatic contest to win over international support for their respective national security
