White House unveils first stage of Middle East peace plan
Senior White House adviser Jared Kushner will arrive in the Swiss town of Montreux today to lead a US delegation to the exclusive Bilderberg Meeting.
Established in 1954, the Bilderberg Meeting was designed to promote warmer relations between the United States and Europe. The annual secretive gathering of global elites attracts top politicians, business leaders, financiers, academics and influential members of the media.
With Mr Kushner and his delegation wrapping up a five-day Middle East tour, expect today’s meeting to serve as a prelude to a major Trump administration announcement slated for late-June: the unveiling of an Israeli-Palestinian peace plan. Labelled by US President Donald Trump as the “deal of the century”, one of Mr Kushner’s objectives today will be to begin drumming up economic support for the president’s mysterious proposal.
Mr Kushner’s brainchild is set to be officially revealed to the world at a conference in Bahrain on June 25 and 26. While the Trump and Netanyahu governments appear set against full Palestinian statehood, it is clear from Mr Kushner’s participation in today’s meeting and the later conference in oil-rich Bahrain that the “deal of the century” will involve market-based financing solutions.
